Hugh Simon

Chief Executive

Hugh Simon has over three decades of asset management and investment experience across multiple asset classes and strategies in Asia, Europe and the US. He started his career with Schroders in London, Australia and Hong Kong before joining Lazard in 1984 to establish their offices in the Far East (Hong Kong and Japan) where he was responsible for investment management and marketing for the Asian region.

Hugh founded the Hamon Investment Group in 1989 to initially focus on public markets investments for institutional clients looking for exposure to the higher growth Asian markets.  An entrepreneurial   visionary with deep conviction of Asia’s long term economic growth potential, Hugh has over 30 years of Asian regional investment experience and is a strong advocate of collaborative institutional partnerships. He strategically steered the group’s evolution into a multi-strategies platform by expanding expertise and product offering through acquisitions and strategic partnerships.

For 18 years while Hamon managed assets for BNY Mellon, Dreyfus funds and institutional clients looking for exposure in the Asian region, Hugh built and led a team that managed top performing relative and absolute return funds in Asia for the most part of that period. Under Hugh’s leadership, Hamon have deployed and managed in excess of USD 2.8 billion of capital across various strategies and asset classes since inception.

Edmond Wong

Group Chief Operating Officer

Edmond Wong joined Hamon in 2007 and is responsible for formulating and implementing business strategies while overseeing group finance and accounting, fund administration, settlement, operational risk management, company secretarial and regulatory compliance functions. He has over 27 years of experience in strategical planning, business ideas execution, operations, finance and risk control in the financial sector, having previously worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, Indosuez W. I. Carr Securities and Dresdner Bank AG in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Hamon, Edmond was Chief Operating Officer of a technology venture.

Edmond graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BBA and obtained his MBA from Warwick Business School, UK. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FCPA), a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), an Associate of The Chartered Governance Institute (ACG) and an Associate of Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKACG).

Ming Lam, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Ming Lam joined Hamon in 2010 and is responsible for Hamon’s Asia ex-Japan ESG product and global multi-asset portfolios. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Wayne Zang, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Wayne Zang joined Hamon in 2018 and is responsible for equity research, company analysis, and idea generation across the China, Hong Kong, and US markets. He graduated from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics with an Economics degree and holds a Masters in Financial Technology from HKUST.  Wayne is a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Anastasia Levashova, PHD

Portfolio Manager

Anastasia Levashova joined Blackfriars in 2014 and has over 15 years’ experience in GEM and frontier markets in London, Russia and New York. She started her career at Firebird Management in New York before joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Russia and CIS office in Moscow. In 2011, Anastasia moved to London where she was Head of EMEA Sales at BNP Paribas.

Anastasia holds a PhD from Moscow Lomonosov State University in International Relations, and Masters in International Finance from Columbia University.

Jeffrey Lum, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Jeffrey Lum joined Hamon in 2019 as portfolio manager and is the founder and managing director of Infield Asset Management Pte Ltd which he set up in 2010 to provide investment advisory and management services to investors. Jeffrey has extensive investment experience in global financial markets, having held senior positions at ARN Investment Partners, HLG Asset Management, Invesco Asset management, LGT Asset Management and Cazenove & Co.  He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a BSc and obtained his MBA (Finance) from the University of Sheffield, UK. Jeffrey is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Allen Ng, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Allen Ng joined Hamon in 2019 as portfolio manager and serves as an independent director to Infield Asset Management Pte Ltd in its investment process.  He has an in depth knowledge of financial markets and investment strategies and is currently a Senior Teaching Fellow of the School of Accounting & Finance at the HK Polytechnic University. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a BSc and obtained his MBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and DBA from the University of Newcastle, UK. Allen is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Chris Wong

Group Head of Finance

Chris Wong joined Hamon in 2009 and is responsible for group accounting and financial management.He has 25 years of experience and started his career in Ernst & Young in financial management and audit for 5 years, before becoming finance manager in a number of investment companies in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Hamon, Chris was vice-president at Singapore-listed Uni-Asia Finance Corporation, responsible for financial reporting and investment project appraisal of its investment arm.

Chris holds an Honors Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Accountancy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner.

Karin Cheung

Marketing & Client Relations

Karin Cheung joined Hamon in 2008 and is a Marketing & Client Services Manager responsible for client servicing, marketing, fund administration and operational support of Hamon’s various funds and strategies.

She also works closely with the investment team on the ESG and sustainability aspects of the portfolios. Karin holds an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Douglas Eu

Director

Douglas Eu has over three decades of experience in the asset management industry where he has held senior leadership positions in various global institutions including JP Morgan Asset Management in Hong Kong as MD & CEO, as well as its Asia-Pacific Head of Distribution. He also served 14 years with Allianz Global Investors, initially as its CEO (Asia-Pacific) and later as CEO of Allianz Global Investors US, based in New York. He is also a long-time Global Executive Committee member at Allianz.

Douglas has extensive experience in successfully growing asset management businesses in the US and Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, India and South Korea. He also has hands-on experience in portfolio management and leading fund managers specializing in China.

Douglas is an innovative leader with expertise in turn-around strategies, spearheading organization and technology change, aligning operating processes, and developing targeted strategies to grow businesses and teams both locally and globally. He is well versed in regulatory-related issues, corporate governance and product marketing and distribution.

Alfredo Lobo

Alfredo Lobo is a Partner of Hodes Weill & Associates, responsible for its Asia and Australia business activities. He began his career with JP Morgan Hong Kong’s corporate finance team and in 2000, became a founding partner of Latitude Capital, a leading China-focused mid-market M&A and strategic placement boutique which was subsequently sold to the Cowen Group in 2008. Prior to joining Hodes Weill, Alfredo founded LXL Capital Partners in 2009 to focus on selective private market investment opportunities in Asia.
He was Managing Director of Hamon Investment Group from 1994 to 2000 where he headed its principal investment activities including regional private equity funds, direct investments and residential real estate developments. Alfredo remains a non-executive director of Hamon.

Shanker Iyer, FCA OBE

Mr Shanker Iyer is an independent director of Hamon. Having started as a Chartered Accountant in London and becoming a partner at Moores Rowland in 1982, Shanker formed his own accounting practice in Singapore in 1993 with offices in Singapore and HK. Mr Iyer sold the business to IQ EQ in 2018 and remained with IQ EQ until 2021, as Executive Chairman, Asia.

Over the years Mr Iyer has been very active in the Singapore business community, and has held various leading positions, including Chairman – Singapore International Chamber of Commerce; Founding President – European Chamber of Commerce; and President – British Chamber of Commerce, among others. He was awarded the OBE by the UK government for services to British commercial interests in Singapore.

Mark Acree

General Director

Mark Acree is the General Director and co-founder of Hamon Properties Management Ltd in Vietnam. He has over 18 years of experience in Vietnam’s real estate sector, with a strong focus on the management and development of high-end residential properties. Mark is the General Manager of Nguyen Du Park Residences, and heads the management company for The Albany where he has led the team in providing top quality service for several luxurious residential properties in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
